Treasure Coast Archeological Society Meeting
February 3, 2010
The next meeting is on Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
Marty Hufnagel will bring doughnuts, Anne Pacowski will make the coffee,
and Dale and Kira Thesenvitz will bring the drinks to the March meeting.
The February meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Richard Hart, Sr.,
President of TCAS.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Kira Thesenvitz.
The minutes can be read on the club web site which is www.tcas.us.
They are also emailed to members with email addresses on file.
Donna Rothery said that there are two corrections to be made to the January
minutes. There is a typo in the 7th paragraph after the list of
membership renewals starting with "Mark Holshoe". The typo is
after the word "category". The other correction is the winner
of the 50/50 drawing. The winner was Russ Pacowski.

The guests were asked to introduce themselves.
Mary McGee gave the Treasurer's report.
Angela from Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers was at our meeting
to interview the members on why they took up the hobby of metal detecting,
where they hunt, what is their best find, etc.
Member info: This month the following persons renewed their TCAS
membership for 2010.

Richard Hart awarded Neil Normando with the Find of the Month certificate
for the spoon he found in January. The spoon had been planted for the
"Four Park Hunt" but wasn't found on that day.
Mark Holshoe won the Find of the Year - 2009 for the gold
necklace he found in October.
Mitch King talked about the GNRS (Grand National Relic Shootout).
Skip Watson found a relic at the hunt. Joan Hart was covered in mud.
Her picture is on www.thetreasuredepot.com.
There are teams of twenty people on a manufacturer's team. They are
chosen by lottery. The site of the hunt is kept secret until the night
before the hunt. The hunt is held on private property where a Civil War
battle occurred.
Mitch had relics on display from the Civil War era that he has found over
the years.
Saturday, March 13, 2010 is the date set for the TCAS Annual Benefit Hunt.
The hunt will be held at Kiwanis-Hobart Park, Wabasso, Florida. Fifty percent
of our profit will go to a worthy charity.
There will be over a thousand silver coins planted, numbered tokens to win
four Spanish Reales and a key to open the treasure chest. The cost of
the hunt is $85 for the whole day (all hunts) including lunch. The cost
is only $75 if payment is made before March 1.
Next month there will also be a club hunt at Hobart Park on Saturday,
March 6. The purpose of this hunt is
to clean the park before the Annual Benefit Hunt. There will be
prizes. Participants are to be at the park at 9:30 a.m. The hunt
will start at 10:00 a.m. Please bring a covered dish to share.
Richard Hart said that the Executive Board discussed a Calendar of Events
when we had a meeting on January 20, 2010. He said that he would like
for Amy Hart to put the club's Calendar of Events in the TCAS Monthly.
He also requested that Donna put the club's Calendar of Events in the
meeting notes.

Frank Rothery was asked to be the speaker for the March meeting.
Mark Holshoe was asked to explain how the ballots are to be marked for the
"Finds" table. A circle is to be marked for the
choice made in each category and an "X" for the
Find of the Month choice.
