Treasure Coast Archeological Society Meeting  

December 5, 2012

The next meeting is on Wednesday, January 2, 2013  

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Richard Hart, Sr., President of TCAS.  

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Richard Hart, II.  

The minutes can be read on the club website, www.tcas.us. They are also emailed to members with email addresses on file on the last Wednesday of the month.

25 Members present and 7 guest present.

Richard Hart, TCAS President reminded everyone of the Christmas Party, Sunday December 9^th at Marsh Landings, Fellesmere, FL.  

Richard also explained TCAS dues for the guests present and as a reminder to all club members. Members were also reminded that TCAS dues for 2013 are now due.  

Mitch King, TCAS Vice-President informed everyone of how the gift exchange works at the Christmas Party.  

Richard Hart introduced TCAS member and Snowbird extraordinaire, Terry Shannon to speak about one of his experiences metal detecting in Minnesota.  

Terry told of story of a trading post area from the mid 1800’s where there were ox carts. While he hunted there he found a 2 cent piece from 1864, Indian head pennies and other artifacts such as nails and a barrel rim. He even found a grave! He has written a couple articles for magazine and will be on the cover of Temerity (http://temeritymag.com) which is a relic hunting magazine. Since Terry is so camera shy, he does not know when he will be on the cover. 

Because of the amount of stress and unknown in my life, and the fact that I will be working afternoon/evening shifts now on a regular basis that will prevent me from attending TCAS meetings, I have request from Richard Hart to be removed from the very short list on nominated members for the position of TCAS Secretary. It has been fun and a pleasure writing the minutes and I do look forward to being a “former” TCAS Officer.

December is the time for TCAS Officers to be elected and after the hotly run campaigns, the results have been counted. Our 2013 TCAS Officers are:

Secretary: Diane Briggs

Thank you Diane for volunteering (and joining TCAS) and on your instantaneous election to TCAS Secretary. I will help you and TCAS all I can in the coming year.
