Treasure Coast Archeological Society Meeting
June 3, 2009
 
The next meeting is on the first Wednesday of July, which is Wednesday, July 1, 2009.
 
The Martin’s volunteered to bring drinks.  Marty Hufnagel will bring the doughnuts, and Anne Pacowski will make the coffee for the July meeting.
 
The June meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m. by Richard Hart, Sr., President of TCAS.
 
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Richard Hart, II.
 
The minutes can be read on the web site which is:  www.tcas.us   They are also emailed to members with email addresses on file.  There are printed copies available to those members that do not have an email address.

Mary McGee gave the Treasurer’s report.  .
 
Richard Hart asked for suggestions from the members for a charity to whom TCAS can donate some money.
 
The following charities were suggested:
 
 1.  Foster Outreach - It is an organization that helps children to transition from foster care when
      they have reached their 18th birthday.
 
 2.  Sheriff’s Youth Ranch
 
 3.  Boy Scouts
 
 4.  Ronald McDonald Charities
 
 5.  Children’s Cancer Hospital
 
 6.  Children Shriner Hospital in Tampa
 
Mitch King talked about the upcoming beach hunt at Golden Sands.  Everybody was reminded that the hunt is for members only and they are to bring a covered dish to share and the hunt will cost $5.00.
 
There will be prizes. The top prize will be an eight reale with a Certificate of Authenticity.
 
Everybody should be at Golden Sands at 9:00 a.m.  The hunt will start at 10:00 a.m.
 
Mitch said he was working on the new web site.  The new club website address will be:  www.tcas.us 
as soon as the domain name is purchased.  The cost of purchasing the domain for ten years is about $200.  The cost of the hosting server site is about $10.00 per month.
 
 The new site should be active by the end of June and most files transferred by July 1. Once the new site is active, Mitch will not add any updates to the old site. Our new web address will be posted on the old site and it will stay active until Yahoo, Inc. shuts it down.

Richard presented a certificate to Mark Pearson for his Find of the Month in May.  His find was a child’s gold ring with a diamond.
 

The Molasses Raffle got started with this month and will continue until the December meeting.  The winner must be present to win.  Tickets this month are six for $5.  The price will go up a dollar each month until December.  A Garret Ace 250 metal detector will be one of the prizes.  By December, a new prize (to do with metal detecting) will be added.
 
Larry King will contact Tom Dankowski to ask him to speak at our July meeting.
