 TCAS Monthly Meeting Notes

November 2012

Minutes of the
Treasure Coast Archeological Society Meeting
November 7, 2012

The next meeting is on Wednesday,  December 5, 2012.
The  meeting was called to order at 7:41 P.M. by Richard Hart, Sr., President of TCAS.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Richard Hart, II.
The minutes can be read on the club website, www.tcas.us. They are also emailed to members
with email addresses on file on the last Wednesday of the month.

General Notes:
27 Members present and 2 guest present. One guest was visiting the area from the west side of London, England.
The TCAS Secretary apologized to the club for the wrong times in the October Minutes for the start time of the Appreciation Hunt. I also apologized to Phil Hillrich for miss spelling his name.
Bob Hayden has passed away. A $100.00 donation from TCAS was made to his Church. Attached is his obituary.
About Will Rose.
I sent out an email to all TCAS members reference to Will Rose passing away. Due to my cell phone and ears (I think I have a hearing problem) I misinterpreted what was said to me.
Will Rose did not pass away. Unfortunately, his wife Mary Rose passed away Wednesday November 21st of lung cancer which they have been fighting for over four years.
CAS sent a flower arraignment, which Will said was very beautiful.
Mary McGee, TCAS Treasurer stated that the price of the Post Office Box has increased to $76.00 a year. The need of TCAS having a POB were discussed. It was also stated that past officers were still receiving some mail for TCAS at their homes.
The TCAS Christmas Party will be on Sunday, December 9th at 4:30 at Marsh Landings, Fellsmere. A gift exchange will be discussed at the December TCAS meeting. Please keep the price of gifts to no more than $20.00.
December is the month for voting in TCAS Officers. Nominations were open by Richard Hart, TCAS President. Unfortunately, the existing Officers were the only ones nominated (nominated by default).

TCAS had an Appreciation Hunt for the two clubs that support our Annual Benefit Hunt. This Hunt was on November 3rd and went very well. There were “35 Hunters” hunting in two hunts. The first hunt had silver dimes and buffalo nickels.  This was followed by a “bring your own lunch” break. Then the field was planted and the second hunt was on. Twenty tokens were planted with only eighteen found!
Prizes were determined using a “tri-skill” approach: first the “skill of finding a token” with a metal detector. The second skill is the “skill of luck” of having your token number picked from the pot of numbers. The third skill was the “skill of ESP” or picking your prize from among unmarked envelopes. Inside the envelopes was a sheet of paper with the prize written on it.
